24) Gibraltar

Gibraltar 36° 09N 5°21’W

Arrived at noon.  The sea state and the wind slowed us down last night.

Eleven a.m. here, but it’s 5 O’clock somewhere.

The guidebooks say we must go to the customs dock first and this customs guy said that last week they stopped operating this way.

We were going to Marina Bay south of the runway.  So, we called the marina and got a slip.  Granted this takes a while to get in the slip because things are just that way in a boat.  We needed to go on the other side of that blue ship.

While backing in the slip between 2 boats and securing the lines med-tie, the clouds unleashed an enormous amount of rain.  We had to keep working and could not stop.  Then, did I mention that we are right next to the runway that separates Spain from Gibraltar?  Well, the military were taking off at this time and it was impossible to hear anything.  The marina dock line handlers were covering their ears.  We didn’t have that luxury.

Spain to the left and Gibraltar to the right of the runway.
Yes, that is a heavy taking off.  It’s not all paradise out here.  Luckily, this is not a busy airport.
