Hey Guys,
Some interesting news on our Transpac effort. I will be forwarding info
and emails on 2 topics: Penalty Pole/Rating and our class start date.
We will be carrying 2 asymmetrical kites along with symmetrical sails this
race. Because of this we may also buy a longer pole which the sail makers
strongly recommend. The pros and cons are not fully clear so the jury is
out. You will be getting some of this correspondence.
I have been concerned about the 2 start dates and have expressed this to
Bill & to the race committee. As of yesterday morning all the other SC50
owners have jumped in to express their disappointment. You will get some of
those letters. Their is a Transpac meeting today where the other SC50 owners
will become vocal on this topic. Stand by.
DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY OF THE ABOVE. This is for your information only.
Call or email me if you have questions.
For the past couple of weeks I have been working with 4 Ausie sailors to
join in on our fun. They would be good crew mates, are aggressive &
knowledgeable. However, with the cyclone Yazi devastating so much of
Australia, I have lost contact. Wish them well & hope they can join us.
Interviews for crew have not been very fruitful. Either lots of talent & no
money or the other way around.
I will keep on this.
Aloha,
gib
